Santiago de Compostela in 1985 was declared World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO:
Being an extraordinary set of monuments grouped around the tomb of St. James the Greater, and destination of all the major pilgrimage routes of Christianity among XI and XVIII centuries, Santiago de Compostela is undoubtedly one of the most unquestionable assets of Humanity.
But Santiago de Compostela is also a European Capital of Culture, which was granted in recognition of his work and its cultural dynamism of cultural diffusion throughout history.
Heritage City goal and the Camino de Santiago, as well as European City of Culture, Santiago de Compostela is a prime destination for cultural tourism.
These reasons we must add that it is also the capital of Galicia, magical country where the Romans placed the end of the world, and so the best exponent of a unique culture: the Galician culture.
